Café con Manos de Mujer Huehue
ACODIHUE
Huehuetenango, Guatemala
ACODIHUE is co-operative farming association located in Huehuetenango, a renown coffee-growing region in western Guatemala. Approximately eighty percent of co-op's coffee comes from indigenous women producers in the mountainous territory of Cuchumatan, Huehuetenango.
To recognize the hard work of these women, ACODIHUE has obtained the certification Manos de Mujer (Women's Hands). Locally, this network of women growers is known as Awal Nan, a name from their native Mam language, which roughly translates into “sown by women.”
Only 22% of ACODIHUE's annual production goes under the designation of Café con Manos de Mujer, representing a refined selection of the cooperative's coffee. The lot Cafe con Manos de Mujer Huehue comes from this limited selection.
